 Lease to purchase Applications in the Financial Institutions

Was held on Saturday, 22.1.2011 at the hall of the Umayyads in Sham Hotel


The conference was attended by representatives of the Islamic financial institutions from the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey as well as local companies , businessmen , professionals and those interested in the work of financial institutions . in addition to large number of virtue scientists who are members of the Islamic financial institutions and a number of leaders of Islamic banks, specialists and researchers in Islamic Economics.


Discussed a range of addresses on legal matters and legal and practical for the work of Islamic leasing companies by a group of local and international experts and decision-makers and regulators.

The conference discussed the Legislative Decree No. 88 and its impact on the Syrian economy, which provides for allowing the establishment of leasing and Islamic leasing companies and impact of the decree on the Damascus Stock Exchange. The experience of Albaraka Banking Group and the Syrian International Islamic Bank and the practical experience of the Malaysian and Lebanese in  Lease to purchase has been presented in order to transfer global expertise to the local market in this field and activate the mechanism used in application  the service of lease to purchase in all aspects.

The conference addressed  three themes were:
• the legal aspects of lease to purchase operations.
• the Shari'a aspects of leasing to purchase operations .
• the practical experiences of some Islamic leasing companies.


After reviewing the working papers presented by speakers and extensive discussions of the participants at the conference, this was the time to draw conclusions and recommendations (please download conclusions of conference).
